I'm Ms. Mason, the forensic science teacher in CS High. The course syllabus and course outline that I hand out to my students are provided along with one of my tests.

With the current emphasis on STEM, teachers of all grade levels are adding forensic science components to their curriculum. CS High differs from other YA mysteries by incorporating forensic science techniques that students can perform in a high school laboratory without expensive gadgets available to professionals. Students tag along with Marcus, Laurel, and Simon as they examine fingerprints, perform chromatography, analyze handwriting, identify fibers, generate DNA fingerprints, solve mathematical codes, investigate the secret societies of some of America’s finest universities, and explore their own school’s history. Teachers can design a short curriculum based on CS High.

Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

CS High incorporates K-12 NGSS physical and life science practices, including using models, planning and conducting investigations, analyzing and interpreting data, using mathematical and computational thinking, and constructing explanations.
